What was lost is now found!

Ole Jette & Kira

For 50 plus years we have looked for my Grandfather Olsen's family in Denmark. My Grandfather died in 1953 His family in Denmark did not speak English and his children did not speak Danish, so the family lost contact with his family in Denmark after his death. In 1998 I posted a “looking for” on the Olsen Family Forum looking for anyone who might know the family. Nothing!! In 2003 I called the Kolding, Denmark paper to see if the paper would consider putting an add in the paper. They did!! And still nothing!! I was beginning to think I would never find my Danish family. I had given up hope of every finding them. I had teased my Aunt Arrine that grandfather must have been a criminal and he had come to America to get a fresh start.
I’m glad to say my Grandfather was not a criminal. I have found my Danish family. August 24 I thought I’d check my email one last time before I went to bed. To my surprise there in my email was a short note from Ole Olsen of Kolding Denmark. He had been looking for his American family for 30 years. He knew my grandfather existed but didn’t know his name or a lot about him. He had spoken to Otto Olsen a cousin in Denmark and he told him a little about my grandfather, where he lived in Florida, his name and date of his birth. From there Ole went on line and Googled my grandfather’s name. He found my post on the Olsen Forum.
Ole and I made contact the 25th of August 2009 and it has been a wonderful blessing. I am so excited! Ole and his wonderful wife Jette made plans to come America for Thanksgiving. I decided it would be a wonderful time to celebrate the lives of my grandparents so we put together a Olsen reunion. We decided Lakeland, Florida would be the best place for the reunion since that is where most of the family lives. We had a wonderful two week reunion. I can’t wait to visit them in Denmark and met the rest of my family.

On Wednesday we went to the Rock-N-Roll hall of Fame and the Football Hall of Fame!
I have pictures of the Football Hall of Fame but none of the Rock-N-Roll hall of Fame. They ask that you not take pictures there!

The Football Hall Of Fame I have lots of pictures!!
I'm not much of a Football fan but I liked the Football hall of fame way better than the Rock-N-Roll hall of fame!

Thursday we went to Ceder point for the day!!
The kids had a blast there!! Stacy and the boys went with us and that made the trip even more enjoyable for Cody and Kira!!

In June the Singles Ward went on a trip to Navoo, Il. There where a total of 60 that went. Christina had a great time; they left Columbus at 12:00 A.M. on Friday morning arriving in Nauvoo around 8:00 A.M. that same morning. First stop was the Old Nauvoo Cemetery, next stop a tour of Nauvoo put on but The Community of Christ (formally the Restored Church). Those that where endowed where able to do a endowment session in the new Beautiful Nauvoo Temple,
while those that where not endowed participated in baptisms for the dead. Everyone had a wonderful time. Did I mention they took an Ohio State bus!! What a way to travel! sleep and let someone else do all the driving.

A Day At The Zoo!

Yesterday Christina and I took the girls to the Columbus Zoo for the day. They loved seeing all the animals. Ella's favorite was the Otters and Madeline liked the monkeys. Madeline how ever did not like the Red Butted Baboon she keep saying he was "Grosse" and she didn't like the Orangutan he to "Hariy" according to Maddie. My favorite has always been the Manatees. We took lots of pictures and had a wonderful day.

Lets Go Out To The Ball Game!

Today was opening day ceremony for Coach Pitch softball. Jim is coaching with Eric Driggs. They have the 5 to 8 year old girls again this year. The girls are all so cute and it’s fun to watch Jim with all those little girls.. This Years Team

Introducing The Team

The big thing since Jim is the pitcher is to see if they can hit hard enough to hit him! One little girl did hit him. And Hannah is always saying she is going to get him so he always tells her that when it is her turn he is "bringing on the heat"!

It was a great first game! They don’t keep score with this age group but they did very well and if they did keep score they would have won.. Way to go girls.
